About the project
e-Craft Idea Tutor e-CIT (2005-2007) was a Leonardo da Vinci (EU) pilot
project. e-CIT aimed to develop and test the content of a creative e-learning
environment. The target groups of the project were students and teachers in
vocational institutes of handicraft sector in the EU. e-CIT concentrated on such
handicraft and design areas which are based on manual skills and aim to produce
goods for customer markets, e.g. textile and wood.
The learning environment created during the project is called Craftopolis.
The creative learning environment guides students to creativity and to use of
new problem-oriented views to find, develop and design more consumer-oriented
products. The new product concepts can be based on e.g. stories, history and
cultural heritage using the information from trends and customer research. This
is how the learning environment answers to the challenges of the modern society.
The learning environment is a tool to use in teaching. The structure of the
learning environment is flexible and versatile. The learning environment can
also be adapted as material to self-education.
