Design Centre MUOVA is a research and development unit of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences dedicated to design and innovation since 1988. Our mission is to support international competitiveness of companies through market-oriented design. We combine product and service design as well as design thinking with marketing, management and ICT in order to transform companies, industries and the society. Strong collaboration with companies, public organisations, research and educational institutes takes place at international, national, and regional levels.
Project manager for ECOLABNET
We will strengthen our competence in sustainable product-service system design and will establish a strategic international project ECOLABNET (1.1.2019-31.6.2021). ECOLABNET focuses on building a collaboration network in Baltic Sea Region for supporting SMEs in sustainable product development. We open a position of project manager, who will be responsible for coordinating this international project. In addition, the project manager plans new research and development projects for the continuation of developing the strategic competence in Design Centre MUOVA.
Main responsibilities:
- Managing the ECOLABNET project
- Managing MUOVA’s project team, which consists of industrial design, marketing and communication experts and researchers
- Planning new research and development projects related to sustainable product service system design
Qualifications:
- Appropriate Doctoral or Master Degree
- Experience in management of international projects
- Strong competence in sustainable product development
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Innovative, proactive and participative way of working

Industrial designer
We will strengthen our competence in sustainable product-service system design and will establish a strategic, international project ECOLABNET (1.1.2019-31.6.2021). ECOLABNET focuses on building and piloting a collaboration network in Baltic Sea Region for supporting industrial SMEs in sustainable product development.
We open a position for industrial designer with special expertise in sustainable innovations. The innovations concern product-service systems, which utilise new bio-based material, 3D printing and other sustainable design strategies. In addition to ECOLABNET project, the industrial designer will participate in RDI projects with companies related to new product innovations.
Main responsibilities:
- Designing concepts and prototypes of sustainable product-service systems
- Participate in collaboration activities in ECOLABNET project and co-designing expert services for ECOLABNET
- Product and service design in RDI projects with companies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master Degree in industrial design
- Competence in sustainable development
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills (Finnish/Swedish and English)
- Innovative, proactive and participative way of working
